About the Walk
Rising above the village of Kinver, Kinver Edge is one of Staffordshire’s most treasured natural landmarks. Known for its dramatic red sandstone ridges and ancient woodland, the area has attracted walkers, travellers, and storytellers for centuries.
Hidden among the trees lies Nanny’s Rock — a striking sandstone formation wrapped in local folklore. According to legend, the rock was once associated with tales of witches and mysterious woodland spirits, adding an enchanting atmosphere to the trail.
Along the route, walkers will also discover traces of the region’s unique cave dwellings, carved directly into the soft sandstone cliffs. Some of these homes were inhabited until the 20th century, offering a rare glimpse into a fascinating way of life from the past.
